58th Street Campus celebrates exceptional residents in their 90s

May 10, 2018

Seven ladies of 58th Street shared stories, laughs and treats as they were recognized by family, friends and team members.

There were nine decades worth of celebrations Tuesday at Ann Thomas Apartments in Southwest Philadelphia.

Residents, team members and family members gathered in Ann Thomas’ first-floor community room to celebrate and recognize all the residents of Presby’s 58th Street Campus who are in their 90s.

The campus, home to over 200 residents in Ann Thomas Apartments, Greenway Apartments and Mary Field Apartments and soon-to-be-completed Witherspoon Apartments, has seven residents celebrating a birthday in their 90s this year. The birthdays range from 90 all the way to 99. All were on hand for cake, ice cream and to tell fascinating and inspiring stories about all they have accomplished and all their favorite things in life.

Mary Luke, Constance Moses, Katherine Bell, Almeda Henry, Edna Hill, Mildred Robinson and Bertha Patton all shared their experiences and wisdom and spoke of their favorite movies, singers, dances, holidays, presidents, traditions, hobbies and anything and everything in between.

They also spoke of their keys to longevity (praying and eating right were popular exercises) and what living in a Presby apartment means to them right now.

“I am so thankful for this apartment and our manager (Ruth James),” Mary Luke said. “We have a great and safe place to live.”

All of Presby joins in celebrating these ladies from 58th Street!
