Legendary DJ Jerry Blavat to Host Grand Opening of Renovated Performing Arts Center at Rydal Park

RYDAL, PENNSYLVANIA (MAY 18, 2015): Rydal Park continuing care retirement community in Abington Township, Montgomery County will celebrate the grand opening of its newly-renovated Performing Arts Center with an afternoon of music hosted and spun by legendary DJ Jerry Blavat on Tuesday, June 2 starting at 2 p.m. The event is free and open to the public on a limited, reserved basis by RSVP to Michelle Finke at 215-376-6292.

“Having Jerry Blavat host the opening of our renovated Performing Arts Center really exemplifies Rydal Park’s ‘spirited living,’” said Executive Director of Marketing Sarah Jolles. “As with many of the free events we regularly host here, we want members of the local community to come celebrate with us, and help break in the new dance floor.” Complimentary valet parking will be provided. For those interested, tours of Rydal Park will be provided before the event, at 1 pm (also by RSVP).

Jerry Blavat, also known as “The Geator with the Heater” from his early days in radio, is now in his 53rd year as a Philadelphia music radio host, and also DJs/hosts scores of sold-out live dance events throughout the Mid-Atlantic and on public television. Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1998, he is also the author of You Only Rock Once: My Life in Music.

The renovated Rydal Park Performing Arts Center is state-of-the-art, with enhanced multi-media capabilities and more space for hosting the kinds of exciting live performances that Rydal Park is known for: orchestras, ballet troupes, dance groups, bands and other music artists, theatrical shows, and comedians, to name a few. It also hosts an array of film screenings, guest lectures, an ongoing “Meet the Author” series, an acclaimed annual speaker series, and other special events of all kinds.
