On Thursday, September 17, Presby’s Inspired Life President & CEO, Judee M. Bavaria, Executive Team Members and members of the Board of Directors hosted a library dedication ceremony honoring its first and longest serving president, The Rev. Paul A. White. The event, which took place at Rosemont Presbyterian Village, the first community of Presby’s Inspired Life, was part of the year-long 60th-anniversary celebrations taking place across Presby’s communities.
The library, which currently resides in the historic mansion on Rosemont’s campus, was renamed the Rev. Paul A. White Library. Members of the White family, including his wife Bette, children and grandchildren were in attendance to take part in the special ceremony.
The Reverend Paul A. White retired from PresbyHomes & Services (Presby’s Inspired Life former name) in 1992 after 31 years of inspiring and dedicated service. Beginning as Executive Secretary in 1961, he ultimately went on to become President. His insightful, dynamic vision was instrumental in providing new retirement options for seniors in this region. He helped to set the standards for responsible retirement community administration regionally, and nationally.
Under his leadership Presby expanded its continuing care retirements communities and opened its first Affordable Housing community for seniors—Riverside Presbyterian Apartments—in 1981. Reverend White’s visionary leadership continued to guide the organization long after his retirement. His profound love and knowledge for the ministry helped to shape the strategic plan of the organization moving into the 21st century. “His passion for this ministry was palpable. He gave so much to ensure that seniors of all socio-economic levels had access to quality care and retirement living options. His leadership set the foundation for what this organization is today and each of us—team members, residents, stakeholders alike—are the beneficiaries of his hard work and dedication to serving others,” said Judee M. Bavaria, President and CEO of Presby’s Inspired Life.
Today, Presby’s Inspired Life stands as a leader in the field of continuing care and Affordable Housing for seniors, serving more than 3,000 residents in 33 communities across Southeastern Pennsylvania and Delaware.
