Stay Social, Stay Smart

You exercise for a stronger body. But what can you do for a stronger brain? Why not socialize? AARP says the key to brain health is staying social. And you’ll find plenty of opportunities to stay social at Rydal Park.

  • JUST SAY “YES” – When asked to go somewhere or do something, just say “yes!” You’ll stimulate your mind and promote cognitive function by meeting new people and experiencing new things.
  • HELP OTHERS – Helping others helps you. All around you there are many volunteer opportunities like planting public gardens or teaching business skills. Your community, and brain, will thank you.
  • LOOK LOCALLY… – Abington Township offers lots of activities that allow you to appreciate its diversity. An author presentation or gallery opening lets you meet people while expanding your horizons.
  • …OR TRAVEL – There are even more ways to boost your brain outside of your community. Rydal Park residents appreciate the educational and cultural opportunities that off-site events and excursions provide. Whether a train ride or a plane ride, the world is as close as you want it to be.
  • BE PASSIONATE – Being deeply engaged in your hobbies or passions is great for maintaining a healthy brain. Look for activities, classes, and clubs that let you explore your passions or find new ones!
  • GO ONLINE – Social media networks are a great way to stay in touch with friends and loved ones, or to meet new friends with similar interests – whether from our computer lab or the comfort of your own apartment home.
