The Sower’s Society: Fostering a Legacy of Service and Compassionate Care for Generations to Come
January 10, 2016
Since its inception in 1955, Presby’s Inspired Life has held true to its mission of offering exceptional living experiences and compassionate care to older adults from diverse backgrounds. It is this mission that motivates residents, family members and other individuals to ensure the organization’s livelihood by making planned gifts or provisions for charitable donations in their estates.
Planned gifts are crucial to sustaining the tradition of excellence for Presby far into the future. They are especially attractive gift vehicles because of the dual benefits of a lasting legacy for the donor and valuable support for a host of future needs across the ministry including benevolent assistance, special programs and capital enhancements. Because of the unique nature of planned gifts, Presby’s Inspired Life created The Sower’s Society to honor those individuals who make this extraordinary commitment.
The Sower’s Society, which shares significance of the Parable of the Sower, honors donors like The Reverend Fred and Joyce Malott, of Rosemont Presbyterian Village who serve as Honorary Co-Chairs for the Society. Through their philanthropy, the Malotts are “planting seeds in good ground” or shoring Presby’s foundation for unparalleled care and excellence in its residential and supportive care communities.
“We are pleased to share our resources to help ensure that Presby maintains its longstanding commitment to meeting the needs of generations of older adults,” says Fred and Joyce Malott. “Planned giving allows us to creatively benefit the residents and the community that we care deeply about.”
Membership in The Sower’s Society is offered to all individuals who have made an estate provision for Presby’s Inspired Life as a planned or deferred gift commitment, regardless of the amount, including:
- Bequest in a will or living trust
- Charitable gift annuity
- Charitable lead trust
- Charitable remainder trust
- Designation of Presby’s Inspired Life as the beneficiary of a retirement plan or a life insurance

In recognition of their generosity, members of The Sower’s Society will receive a small gift; specialized, periodic updates about Presby’s progress and programs; a gift planning newsletter; and exclusive invitations to special events and seminars.
“My estate plans afford me an opportunity to impact the future of Presby’s Inspired Life in a meaningful way,” says Betty Sieber of Rydal Park who joins the Malotts as a Co-Chair for the Sower’s Society. “I am grateful that I am able to direct my charitable bequest in a manner that will ultimately make a difference in the lives of those who call Rydal Park ‘home.’”
The Office of Philanthropy and Mission Support will confidentially answer questions about giving and work closely with legal, tax and other advisers to design plans that meet the personal goals of anyone interested in making a planned gift.
